Philipp Schaerer studied Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland from 1994-2000. As a student he worked for the architects Kollhoff & Timmermann in Berlin and Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. He graduated in the year 2000 and received the A3E2PL Award for the best Diploma in Architecture at EPFL. His collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron continued in 2000 as Architect for the Expansion of the Aargauer Kunsthaus Aarau, Switzerland and worked later as project manager on a feasibility study for the Expansion of the Cantonal Library, Aarau. In 2003 Philipp was charged to develop a knowledge management concept for Herzog & de Meuron. Focused on procedures and technologies that allow the efficient storage, retrieval, and reuse of the digital files (DAM), he established guidelines concerning the digital project filing system and was responsable for the leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer | design, porgramming and editioral of Herzog & de Meuron's intranet. He defined requirements specification for the implementation of a media database and currently works on its implementation and customization. Simultaneously from 2001 Philipp Schaerer worked on several competitions and was responsable for many of Herzog & de Meuron's landmark images of important projects published all over the world including the Allianz Arena, Soccer Stadium for Munich, the National Stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the Jindong New District in Jinhua City, China. Since end 2003, Philipp is part-time working as teaching assistant at the Chair for Computer-Aided Architectural Design, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and is responsible for the Postgraduate Studies in CAAD (MAS ETH ARCH/CAAD). |
