ST. GALLEN

The city of St. Gallen stretches along the length on the railroad and highway network until it is finally bounded by a ring of several hamlets, industrial zones and public amenities which were formerly not considered within the city limits. Three exemplary peripheral sites were selected within this expansively developed territory: Winkeln, Bruggen-Haggen, St. Fiden. The general strategy of the three projects limited all interventions to public zones and buildings. Three small train stations serve as the basis for a reorganization of this peripheral area. Assuming that they will be used as stations for a regional or underground train system, it is plausible that new activities, services and public zones will become concentrated around these nodes.
