As a companion to the Schindler Global Award 2017 that was curated by the Chair of Prof. Kees Christiaanse, the essays and projects in this book present possible strategies and design approaches to the challenge of urbanization and the related spatial, infrastructural, social and economic consequences.
The Essay part contains texts by Fernando Mello de Franco, Ciro Biderman, Diane E. Davis, Elisabete França, Marc Angélil and Cary Siress, Fabienne Hoelzel, Kees Christiaanse, Georgeen Theodore, Konrad Rothfuchs and Christian Scheler.
The Projects part presents the twelve winning entries of the Schindler Global Award 2017. The competition site is located in São Paulo, Brazil.
The book was edited by Kees Christiaanse, Fabienne Hoelzel, Dimitri Kron (ETH Zürich); Jessica Bridger; Andrea Murer, Neil Runcieman (Schindler Group), and launched on April 25th in São Paulo, Brazil, as part of the Schindler Global Award Ceremony 2017.
