Wohnhochhaus
Im Frühlingssemester 2010 werden wir uns anhand von drei prominenten Bauplätzen in Chicago, Tokyo und Zürich mit dem Typus des Wohnhochhauses beschäftigen. Im Vordergrund der Diskussion wird das Zusammenspiel von Struktur und Grundriss, das Verhältnis von Hülle und Programm, die Positionierung des Baukörpers im städtischen Raum und der Bezug des Erdgeschosses zum öffentlichen Raum stehen. Ziel des Semesters ist es, dass jeder Student auf einem der drei Bauplätze eine eigenständige und typologisch klare Antwort auf diese grundlegenden Fragen des Wohnhochhauses gibt. Im Semester werden wir historische und aktuelle Beispiele diskutieren, auf konstruktive Aspekte eingehen, aber auch über die wirtschaftlichen Anforderungen sprechen.
Highrise apartments
During the spring semester of 2010, we will work on the apartment high-rise type on three sites in Chicago, Tokyo and Zurich. Main topics of the studio discussions will be the interaction of plan and structure, the position of the building within its urban surroundings and the relationship of the building’s ground level uses to the surrounding public space. Each student will work out an individual project on one of the three sites, with the objective to give an independent and typologically clear answer to the questions discussed. We will also discuss historic and current examples of apartment high-rises as well as constructive and economic aspects.
