The communication applet The communication applet provides a way of direct real-time communication between users, and from the database to the users.	The Partners page The Partners page provides information on the project partners and integrates the external communication tools, e.g., e-mail, audio and video conferencing, into the system.
This representative is in continuous contact with the equivalent representatives of all partners present on the network, through the mediator. The representative is activated either by the user as the result of a request or by the mediator when a note is sent. This note may be a message from another user, information from the database, or information from the mediator itself, e.g., when a partner enters the network and this partner's representative registers with the mediator. The database informs all users when a new item is entered in the database.	The Partners representative provides the user with two image maps in order to facilitate the specification of information requests. The representative informs the equivalent presenter of the user's request, thereby forwarding all preference information of importance to the request. The presenter then retrieves the necessary information from the project database through the (personal information) facilitator, and generates and publishes the appropriate presentation, either in HTML or VRML. Subsequent user requests can be specified directly to the Partners presenter through the published browser page or to the Partners representative through its interface.
