Alberto Camenzind was appointed chief architect of Expo 64 in Lausanne in 1959. Under his direction, an ‘exposition multicellulaire’ was created in departure from the usual pavilion exhibition. In 1965 he was appointed professor at ETH Zurich. With his oeuvre, Camenzind made an important contribution to the reorientation of Ticino architecture in the 1950s, which attracted worldwide attention as a tendenza.
