Hans Schmidt is one of the leading architects and theorists of Neues Bauen in Switzerland. Like hardly anyone else, he represented an architecture consistently oriented towards the new conditions of technology and economy. In his early years in the radical, technically and socially oriented wing of CIAM, he became increasingly involved in the synthesis of industrialization and cultural tradition.
