The research project Learning from Las Vegas, which the architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown carried out together with Steven Izenour and students of Yale University in 1968, resulted in the publication of the same name in 1972 – a book that marked a decisive turning point in architectural theory. Martino Stierli examines this publication and the phenomenon of its effect in the context of the American architectural and urban planning discourse of the 1960s and 1970s and places it in a broader cultural-historical context.
Martino Stierli’s work was honoured with the Gold Medal of ETH Zurich and the Theodor Fischer Award 2008 of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich.
