On September 2009, the New Monte Rosa Hut was opened near Zermatt at an altitude of 2883 metres (9458 feet). This innovative architecture is the result of a collaboration between ETH Zurich, the Swiss Alpine Club SAC and many specialized experts and manufacturers. The New Monte Rosa Hut is the result of pioneering technologies in the design, calculation and construction of buildings. The book documents the development process, planning and construction of this milestone of high alpine architecture in discussions, thematic contributions, photographs and plans.
