Sigfried Giedion (1888–1968), one of the most important Swiss art historians, was one of the protagonists of international architectural modernism. In his publications, which he designed down to the last detail, he paid at least as much attention to both his own photography and the precise use of images as to the written word. This publication illuminates his approaches for the first time and provides a historiographical contribution to the current debate on images and media.
