Plaster surfaces have both great practical and aesthetic value. As this publication shows, the potential of plaster, however, goes far beyond the usual application practices. Based on 18 selected buildings, the volume documents new and traditional plaster techniques. Architects and craftsmen report on the production and application of lime plasters, on the history of roughcast plasters, and on the complex relationships between plaster and color. In addition, 10 detailed recipes and an illustrated glossary provide practical guidance for the production of a wide variety of plasters.
The articles have been revised and, in some cases, significantly expanded for the new edition. They are supplemented by insights into current research work on digital rendering techniques and two new interviews.
