WissensTerritorium (or Knowledge Territory) is a joint project among Institute for Media and Communication's Management of the University of St. Gallen (MCM), School for Art and Design Zurich (HGKZ), and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich (ETHZ). The aim of the project is to develop a system for collecting, augmenting, and exchanging economic and scientific knowledge through the Internet. Within this context, the role of ETH Architecture and CAAD group is to develop a set of functions that would help structure, visualize, and gather a large amount of information, particularly one which grow in time. We will define a strategy to apply such functions if appropriate. Currently we are taking the NetAcademy, an Internet-based business journal archive system, as an example, exploring in which degree we can improve the understanding of the given information, how we can visualize a large amount of data, and what kind of new information can be derived from existing ones.
