/ milling / assignment02 / task / proposal:statements / proposal:thesis

// interest
To use the mill to produce complex forms which can be digitally
customized, also to create surfaces with tactile qualities.

Use these abilities to design a system of door handles using digital design tools,
influencing the process of design by defining parameters of:
_ function within the architectural context
_ user / usergroups
_ ornament and surface design -> visual and tactile inforamtion

// statements
1. Doorhandles and grips are the only haptic contact of human and architecture

griff_organic.jpg

2. Doorhandles today rather please the eye than the hand, the „moderne“ reduced haptic and ergonomic qualities to visual statements.

3. No difference in design and haptic quality is made between handles of very different function context within an building.
Ornament is no longer a design tool to supply information about usage and the room/ building one is entering
