The Schindler Group, in collaboration with the Chair of Architecture and Urban Design, Prof. ir. Kees Christiaanse invited Bachelor’s students in their final year and Master’s students, and their international equivalents, in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, to participate in the Global Schindler Award, a new student urban design competition. The international jury of renowned experts from a diverse range of fields includes Mr. Yan Meng of Urbanus, Prof. Phillip Rode of LSE Cities, Prof. Kongjian Yu of Turenscape, Mr. Jackie Han, president of Schindler Elevator, China and more, and met from 4 to 6 March in Shenzhen. The award will conclude with an award ceremony on April 30.

 

The Global Schindler Award will be accompanied by a publication, featuring a series of essays from academics and practitioners as well as the winning competition entries. Book authors include Linda Vlassenrood of International New Town Institute, Prof. Dr. Jiang Feng of South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, Dr. Alexander Erath of ETH Future Cities Laboratory Singapore, Prof. Dr. Kazys Varnelis of Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, Ting Chen of ETH Future Cities Laboratory Singapore, and more. The publication will be launched on April 30.
