TEACHING

Christiaanse: Urban Design Research Studio

The main focus of Design Strategies and Instruments in Urban Space is the observation of urban phenomena and the development of methods and tools that can be implemented.
The goal of the course is to develop sustainable strategies for urban planning, which would creatively integrate changes in social tendencies into dynamic planning and control processes.
For this purpose, we will examine current issues such as the change in cultural landscape, the reclaiming of urban wasteland, or the development of urban hub areas. There will also be studies on diversification, specialization, and typography of networks, which will give insight into the structure or urban systems.
The knowledge gained from a synergy of research and design will help to initiate and direct future, complex developments in urban space.
