Zurich has been the object of research and teaching at the Chair since the Chair started operating here. Since the initiation of the Airports and Cities research platform, a number of design studios, elective courses and elective theses have engaged with the context of Zurich and its Airport–a hub airport that is very close to the centre of the city in international comparison. Research, publication activity as well as several free elective theses are currently running on the open platform „The Airport in the City“, dealing with issues such as mapping the airport region, the UBS as an urban actor or the airport edge of Zurich.
