The GEAM Groupe d’Études d’Architecture Mobile saw visionary architectural and urban designs as possible solutions to new social challenges. Its founding in 1958 marked the beginning of a wave of conceptual architecture that reached its peak in the late 1960s.
The activities of GEAM, whose most important representatives included Yona Friedman, Frei Otto and Oskar Hansen, were aimed at renewing conceptual approaches. The group gained fame through the jointly realized touring exhibition L’Architecture mobile, a broad-based platform with which the protagonists presented their ideas and concepts in 1961/62.
