first thoughts about the design > > > creating 3 variations

the designs in the very beginning tried to be as simple as possible. two prototypes had to be build within a few days and were
only designed to be used at an one-day test. we wanted to think about different materials and create varying atmospherical
effects with them. the plexi stands for a 'techy' appearence while the wood/leather design wants to evoke an 'ancient feeling'.
however, we chose the plexi and tried to keep the details simple considering the very short time...

production

building the prototype > > > bending plexi by heat

tannmREXphase1produktion.jpg

we lasered white plexi sheets by a cnc laser and bent the pieces by heat. most of the work was done by hand.

here you can see an abstract presentation of the bending process. we built kind of a wooden mould to shape the plexi.

result

plexi shell > > > final prototypes

in the end we had two quite good looking prototypes. the nokia phone and the gps advice were just sticked in and fixed by stripes of felt.
