Urban Breeding Grounds
'Urban Breeding Grounds' describes diverse inner city neighbourhoods that positively trigger centrality, identity and innovation of cities. The articles in this publication present the research and design projects that have been conducted at the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) of the Singapore ETH Centre between 2010 and 2015. As a special issue of the FCL Magazine it includes scientific analyses and design approaches that were produced by international researches from the FCL and students from the ETH Zurich. The selected case study of the larger Rochor area in central Singapore unfolds various parameters that stimulate urban diversity in many regards. Further the effects of trends in the current urban development are explained and policy recommendations for their future organisation are given.
