URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN THE S5 CITY

“Big Box” Cluster as Potential: Example Hinwil

Because of their centrality, “Big Box” clusters (piling up of large boxes) take on an important role in the discussion about forming centers and regional development. Moreover, they offer potential for qualification. The Big-box cluster of Hinwil will be closely examined as an alternative to another big-box cluster in the S5 City. The area itself and its points of interaction with communities, which are connected to it functionally and spatially, will be studied to assess its urban design qualifying potential.*more*

  • How can Big-box clusters be qualified as urban design and programmatically?
  • How can interested parties from the surrounding communities be better considered during the qualification?
