Wireless Sensor Node Development
After playing around with some xBee tranceivers, i thought, why not developing our own caad wireless sensor nodes based on the zigbee protocol. so i've worked out this early prototype nodes - build of some sparkfun parts... The heart is an arduino mini pro 3.3V/8MHz with a xBee tranceiver on the top. On the sensor part, an scp1000 to measure airpressure and temperature, plus the LIS3LV02DQ 3D acceleration sensor. Soldered and glued it all together, so here it is :
The advantage of this node is, that our students can develop some by themself easily and affordable.
You can see the results and after a semeter here. They've build up some pretty and nice wireless networking applications. Feel free to take a look here:
The nodes have been working good since then, but we've made some improvements.
Means we've developed one from scratch. It has a atmel heart with arduino preinstalled.
Some digital in and out for further prototyping.
An xBee for wireless communication.
3D-Acceleration sensor.
Air-Pressure sensor.
They can be driven by an 3.3V lipo or/and charged by a little flexible solar cell.
