Within the fields of pervasive computing, vanishing technology and networked buildings, the Chair of CAAD at the ETH Zurich established an experimental room. Services from the fields of networked building and multimedia distribution are integrated, evaluated and programmed. The aim is to provide a building operation system. As the Chair of CAAD is part of ETH's department of architecture, the lab itself is positioned in the faculty's building. The architectural realm therefore is permanent attendant.
The 'Building IP' group within the Chair of CAAD is accompagning real-world and ETH-internal projects with their knowledge. As a completed example, the Villa Garbald, a conference place in the swiss alps, demonstrates the vanishing technologies.
