The development of beef and milk production has shaped the development of agriculture, the size of farms, land ownership, number of animals kept and the number of people employed in the agricultural sector in the region. Three farm types are analysed and compared: the remote farm in the mountainous Jura folds, the arterial well-connected farm on the Delémont valley‘s longitudinal connections, as well as the peripheral farm on the densely populated urban edge.
